Worcester Community Action Council Receives $10,000 Grant for Resiliency Center from Spectrum Health Systems
Worcester, MA — January 28, 2025 — The Worcester Community Action Council (WCAC) is pleased to announce that its Resiliency Center has been awarded a $10,000 grant from Spectrum Health Systems, Inc. This generous grant is part of Spectrum’s Community Impact Committee initiative, which supports community-based organizations providing critical services to individuals and families across Massachusetts.
The WCAC Resiliency Center is dedicated to addressing community needs through programs and support services that help individuals and families overcome challenges, build resilience, and achieve economic self-sufficiency. The grant will enhance the center’s ability to deliver vital resources to the Worcester and Southern Worcester County communities.
“We are deeply grateful to Spectrum Health Systems for their recognition and support of the work we do at the Resiliency Center,” said Maydee Morales, Director of the Resiliency Center. “This funding will enable us to continue making a meaningful impact in the lives of our neighbors by providing the tools and services they need to thrive.”
The $10,000 grant was awarded through Spectrum’s new Community Impact Committee (CIC), which allows Spectrum employees to nominate organizations they believe positively impact the people served by Spectrum’s inpatient and outpatient behavioral health programs. The nomination is then reviewed by the CIC, composed of board members, executive leaders, and frontline staff.
“The Resiliency Center offers a valuable service that helps connect community members to essential resources, such as SNAP and fuel assistance, while also providing support for personal financial wellness through coaching,” said the Spectrum employee who nominated WCAC. The “cliff effect” is a challenge that many in our community face, often going unnoticed, and can make it difficult for individuals to move beyond reliance on government or community-based assistance. “[The Resiliency Center] aims to help individuals not only manage their finances but also create a foundation for greater financial independence and stability – helping individuals in our community transition from surviving to thriving. That is why we have nominated the Resiliency Center for a Community Impact Grant.”
