Webster Five Donates $25,000 to WCACs Fuel Assistance Fund

Worcester, MA — January 6, 2024 — Worcester Community Action Council, Inc. (WCAC) is thrilled to announce a generous $25,000 donation from Webster Five Bank to support its Fuel Assistance Program. This vital contribution will help provide heating assistance to low-income households across Central Massachusetts as they face the challenges of rising energy costs this winter.

“Webster Five’s commitment to our community is evident through their incredible support of our Fuel Assistance Program,” said Marybeth Campbell, Chief Executive Officer at WCAC. “This donation will go a long way in ensuring that families and individuals can stay warm and safe during the coldest months of the year.”

WCAC’s Fuel Assistance Program, part of the federally funded Home Energy Assistance Program (HEAP), serves thousands of households each year by providing financial support for heating costs. The additional funds from Webster Five Bank will enhance WCAC’s ability to serve more families, especially as the need for assistance continues to grow.

“Webster Five remains deeply committed to supporting the needs of our community,” said Don Doyle, President/CEO, Webster Five. “By contributing the WCAC Fuel Fund, we aim to ensure that local families can stay warm and secure throughout the winter.”

“As a Board member of the WCAC, I’ve seen the lasting positive impact this organization has had on vulnerable households through initiatives such as the Home Energy Assistance Program,” said Brian Westerlind, COO/CFO, Webster Five. “I’m proud that Webster Five continually steps up to support such a vital cause.”

Since its founding in 1965, WCAC has been a cornerstone of support for residents of Central Massachusetts, addressing economic disparities and working to break the cycle of poverty. Programs like Fuel Assistance are at the heart of WCAC’s mission to help individuals and families achieve economic self-sufficiency.
