WCAC hosted its 2nd Annual Resiliency Awards – honoring twenty-two individuals and organizations who have supported the agency’s anti-poverty efforts. We welcomed Sha-Asia Medina, director of The Village Worcester for an uplifting keynote address followed by the presentation of our Sargent Shriver Trailblazer Award, Champion for Kids Iggy Strong-Providing Youth Opportunities Awards, Energy Equity Champions as well as several Action Hero Awards. WCAC’s Head Start program was the recipient of a donation of two Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs) from the Scholastic Sports Zone Foundation. Members of the foundation presented the two life saving devices, valued at approximately $4,000, to WCAC as part of the program’s professional development day for early education staff at WCAC’s Head Start Center located at 25 Cole Avenue, Southbridge. Worcester Community Action Council, Inc. will be offering its Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA) program in Webster for households earning less than $60,000, on Saturday, March 11th from 9 a.m. – 5 p.m. and Saturday, March 18th from 2 – 6 p.m. at WCAC’s Head Start Center located at 116 School Street, Webster, Read more here.

WCAC is experiencing a significant impact to staffing capacity due to federal budget implications. However, demand for our services is growing.
As a result, we are strongly encouraging households that are either first-time applicants or returning clients to apply online using the online portal that opened on October 1st, 2025. https://www.toapply.org/WCAC. Returning applicants will need their account number and PIN to submit through the online portal. The 2025 PIN is located on the top of the green paper application that was mailed to you or by calling our customer service department at 508-796-2423.
